Digital Citizenship
- Update on how the school addresses this.
Presentation on digital citizenship by our media specialist, Brittany Chambers.
We use common sense education to educate the grade groups on appropriate and safe use of technology i.e. the internet.
https://www.commonsense.org/education/digital-citizenship
Would parents like to have some digital citizenship activities sent home (monthly?) to do with their students?
Could we include this in the Dragon Flier? (Terra)
Maybe it could be sent home in a voluntary way and also send it in the flier.
Can there also be a followup to what is done at home so that school and home can hit the same points? (Megan)

- Review and Update Procedures
Issues we would like to address/fix:
Having the circle drive move and flow more quickly. Have it be the highest priority in moving along. Hold walking students at the end of the circle drive in favor of getting cars through.
Change the red paint to green in circle drive for going.
Not allow students to cross in the middle of circle drive to parking lot unescorted.
Not allow cars in the west parking lot for pick up. Block it off just before pick up. Long-term parking only.
Double up teacher bus duty assignments.
How to address the parking along 4th East? Causes issues with cars trying to get into circle drive.
Have options of parking (locations) and pick up detailed in each section of the school. Circle drive is meant to flow quickly.
Students needing to meet their ride on the other side of 2500 need to cross at the intersection and then walk on the north side of 2500 to their car ride.
Training for parents, teachers, students (a walk through) for this. Parking map (visual) and procedures handout? Dragon flier?

AGENDA
Business
- Approve November meeting minutes: Approved
- Upcoming Meeting Date: February 16th
- Book Review Committee
- Test Score Data
Book Review Committee: District policy is to have a committee of staff and parents to review books that are challenged (by a parent) due to appropriateness or so forth.
The party who challenged the book would then present their argument in front of the committee The committee then votes on the book….whether to keep it in the school library or remove it.
Troy proposes that the school community council be that committee plus EmilyThompson (librarian)
This committee needs to exist before any challenges. It cannot be formed after a challenge. Motion to make the school community council as the book review committee approved. Test Scores for last year and current year:
Troy presented. Test scores are still unusual with Covid affecting which tests were given and the performance on the ones that.
Generally, there is growth in each grade with more kids being above the grade benchmarks by the end of last year. We also tracked the cohort of kids as they moved up each grade level noticing a general drop after the Covid shutdown year. This drop was district wide and also in our school.
It was also pointed out that the testing data is a snapshot and it may not be a true mark on how the students are doing on an individual level. There are factors which may skew the numbers on a grade level as a whole or even may be skewed for individual students based on factors such as testing anxiety and so forth.
Student Drop-Off and Pick-up
- Update on Drop-off and Pick-up progress
Where are we at? How is it going?
The flow seems to be much better. Parents and students seem to be following the procedures better, especially keeping the circle drive flowing.
There are still some parents who need helping following procedures but that number is much less than before.
A draft of the updated procedures is included as an attachment. Digital Citizenship

- Student Incentive Program
- Review of new upper grades leadership program
Motion to approve Jan meeting minutes (Terra S. and Rebecca G.). Motion to approve minutes approved.
Test data overview: We looked at the acadience and lexile scores (reading). We show growth during the 2020-2021 year from beginning to end of year.
New student positive behavior plan: The staff will hand out dragon tickets for demonstrating a target behavior around the school.
First bit will focus on kindness being demonstrated in and around the school.
Tickets will be put into a drawing done at random times in the following weeks.
After a few weeks, a new target behavior will be the focus
Greenville gives back: This is what took the place of youth 2000. This involves every student in the school. Each grade is assigned a few tasks for the school i.e. raising and lowering the flag, emptying recycle bins, managing the marque, reading to younger grades and so forth.
In April, we will have a school clean up day with each grade being assigned an area.
The old expiring chromebooks will be sold at the end of the year for $25 a piece. There are 128 of them and it will be advertised as first come first serve.
G.R.A.B. Greenville reads a book. We are looking for a book to read for our school book. We need to find a book on sale for mass purchase. We also want to identify 7 books to put in a school book rotation so that we can keep the resources and stock pile the books as they come up on sale.

School Data
Our standardized testing data and growth testing data is down from previous years. We are still on pace in district and higher than the state average as district and state numbers also went down.
Example: 47% K
55% 1
79% 2
75% 3
80% 4
70% 5
87% 6
These numbers represent the percent of students who started that grade level and were on grade level, in their reading skills, coming into the start of the year. It does show that most kids are growing in their reading skills and not dropping below grade level benchmarks as they move grade to grade.
School Goals:
Overall Percentage was 70% of our students scored on grade level with proficiency in reading (based on Mid Year Acadience Reading Composite Score).
Proposal by Troy to increase that number to 75% by next Mid Year, 2022-2023.
To help with this we will have teachers and staff identify individual kids who are below grade level reading and make realistic growth marks for those kids from beginning of year to mid year.
Another way is all day Kindergarten and to make that more available for kids who need it for their primary stages of reading and academics.
We will also look to increase school reading activities and school wide book readings. (G.R.A.B.) Possibly doing a Fall and Spring school wide book.
We will continue to have our tier II small reading group times during the day for kids needing stronger invention reading strategies.
Possible Future Incentive is using AR to get kids motivated to read months in advance of a coming school wide book reading. Also have tiered rewards so when kids reach certain numbers of points and will then receive the reward for that tier.
Math proficiency for the school is at 58% (based on the end of year state Rise Math Test).
Proposal to increase that number to 61% (+3%) for the end of year, 2022-2023.
We will maintain preteach and morning tutoring in the morning.
We will have tier II math time with math aides trained to help small groups of students with targeted math skills.
Purchasing additional devices (Chromebooks) to help with the tier II time where programs like iReady can be done with math mini lessons.
Proposal to use school funds to purchase a ½ FTE that will help lower the class size numbers of a large grade.
Proposal to replace old chromebooks, $11,000 approx for new Chromebooks for next year.
Question: Should we spend the money on Chromebooks or on math aides?
Motion to approve the proposed goals, by Megan, 2nd by Rebecca. Motion for reading and math carries, unanimous.
